What to expect from the India Venster Hike?
The India Venster hike is one of the more technical routes to the summit of Table Mountain, making it one of the most rewarding adventures on the mountain. “Technical” simply means there are a few short scrambling sections where you’ll use your hands for balance and basic climbing. While it may sound intimidating, you’ll never be hanging off a cliff face, and your guide will be right there with you every step of the way.

The Trail
Starting at the lower cable station, we gradually make our way towards the famous “Venster”, where you’ll enjoy some of the best photo opportunities on the mountain. From there, the route becomes more adventurous as we tackle a series of short scrambling sections with the guidance of your experienced mountain guide. Once past these sections, the trail opens up to spectacular views of Camps Bay and the Twelve Apostles mountain range before reaching the summit of Table Mountain. After spending some time at the top, we’ll descend by cable car.
What level of fitness is required?
Moderate: and a reasonable level of comfort with heights. If heights aren’t your thing, don’t worry, we offer several other fantastic routes up Table Mountain that may be better suited to you.
Where does the hike start and how do I get there?
Transport is available upon request or you can meet at the trailhead, which is; the Lower Cable Station on Tafelberg Road. We’ll communicate all these details during the booking process.
